Reward
Offered in Store Shooting
The
Waad Murad Advocacy Fund has stepped up to offer a reward in an
attempted robbery and shooting at the Orchard Market Place on 13
Mile and Orchard Lake Road in Farmington Hills on Wednesday, February
22.
The Farmington
Hills Police Department (FHP) offered a $5,000 reward, which was
immediately matched by the chamber’s Waad Murad Advocacy Fund
for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects.
The suspects,
described as African American males, one in a mask, entered the
store at about 10:10 p.m., produced a gun and demanded money of
the clerk, Jeffrey Ammouri. According to police, one asked Ammouri
if had activated an alarm. He said no, but was shot several times
anyway.
Ammouri is currently in Botsford Hospital after undergoing surgery
and is in good spirits, his family said.
“This was an unprovoked vicious assault that caused serious
injury to an innocent victim,” said FHP Chief William J. Dwyer.
The Waad Murad
Advocacy Fund is part of the Chaldean American Chamber of Commerce,
both of which have joined the organization Crime Stoppers. Helping
bring perpetrators of violent crime to justice is one of the Waad
Murad Advocacy Fund’s key missions.
Anyone with
information on the suspects is encouraged to call Farmington Hills
Police at (248) 871-2610.
Chamber Hosts Movers and Shakers

The Chaldean Chamber is honored to have recently hosted two important
residents of Michigan.
Mr. Robert J. Buckler, President and Chief Operating Officer of
DTE Energy Distribution, was our guest at February’s Meet
the CEO series. Chaldeans account for some 5 percent of DTE’s
revenue, Mr. Buckler said.
Based on that
meeting, the chamber will work with DTE to enhance its relationship
with the Chaldean American community. Among the suggestions are
establishing a DTE Real Estate Liaison to work with the Chaldean
Chamber and having Chaldeans established as a minority in DTE’s
vendor bidding process.
Dick DeVos, Republican candidate for governor, met with chamber
members later in the month. He discussed his vision for Michigan,
the importance of small businesses and tax relief.
This month,
the chamber will host the publisher and editor of the Detroit News.
